Story
I chose Grid Alternatives because they provide solar energy to low-income households and nonprofit organizations in the US, Nicaragua, Nepal, and Mexico. Accelerating our move to green energy by implementing solar energy in places where they aren’t able to fund it themselves. They've already done an amazing amount of work and any way in which I can help them in their mission I will, and would be grateful for your contribution too.
I think the Ross Edgley quote 'Be naive enough to start and stubborn enough to finish' pretty much sums this idea up. While reading David Goggins's book 'You Can't Hurt Me' I jokingly suggested to my mate that we run >60km through the peak district to a restaurant called Shreks Pizza in search of Shrek-related enlightenment... And on the 16th of June 2021, we are doing it. From Sheffield to Manchester.. From Sale Hill to Sale Road.. From home to HEaven (Hopefully it's still open by the time we get there).
I was an anti-cardio gym rat who hated running (still somewhat do), but I genuinely believe in enlightenment through suffering, and 6 months (and two marathons) later, I think this experience has been a great testament to what you can achieve if you set your mind to it, but I'll save the Philosophy for another post!
