#shirtoff shirt off goal celebration (in public), 21 September 2021
Grenfell Athletic is raising funds to support the development of the team and to support the local community. We are raising funds to develop the Mens team in the 21/22 season, build a women's team and run a summer football academy for children.

Story

Five weeks after the Grenfell Tower fire tragedy, community worker Rupert Taylor decided to do something to uplift the mental health of the young people of the Lancaster West Estate. He started a football team. Four years on, the team has developed into a leading light in support of the community. Our primary goals are to secure funding for the future of the mens team and to launch Women's and Youth teams for the 2022/23 season , because the healing power of football should be available to all. Second to this we would like to build on Ruperts 20 years of experience as a fully qualified and highly respected youth worker, in providing educational and mentoring opportunities for 14-16 year olds in the community. This is the most critical age, when young people make decisions that will affect the rest of their lives. With your support we will be able to continue providing support for many young people, and to build a positive and inspiring story out of such a tragic event for the member

About the charity

On 14th June 2017 a tragic event shook the nation, the Grenfell Tower Fire. Grenfell Athletic Football Club (GAFC) was set up as a Community Football team in the wake of this event, to uplift the community and provide the talented young men of the local community with a positive outlet. The team was also a way of ensuring the legacy of this tragic episode is never forgotten, and as a visible image of the resilience and strength of the communities of W10 and W11, London.
