Our beloved son, Kit Mallinson, died tragically whilst on his gap year in Cambodia on 13th December 2016. Prior to travelling in Cambodia, Kit had spent 7 weeks as a volunteer with the charity Raleigh International in Borneo where he completed a 17 day jungle trek and then helped lay pipework to get clean water to the remote community of Kalampun. We spoke to Kit when he was in the jungle and he was having the most incredible time. The work was physically demanding but hugely rewarding and he was so positive, upbeat and happy. He made many new friends whilst on Raleigh and was described as ‘a beautiful human being who had an immeasurable positive effect on everyone he met’.

Kit was such a kind, thoughtful person and nothing would make him happier than to enable someone less fortunate who would otherwise never have the opportunity to have this life changing experience. Any donations would be hugely appreciated to help raise the funds for others to follow in his footsteps  working alongside remote local communities to help create positive change.

The target figure of £4250 was chosen as this is approximately the cost of one person volunteering and includes flights, vaccinations and equipment.

It is over two years since we 1st set up this page in the hope of sending one person on expedition, we are delighted to have gone way beyond this initial target both on this JustGiving page and as a results of family and friends independent fundraising events. Raleigh International have set up a special page on their website to bring together all fundraising stories as well as telling the stories of those who have benefitted from this fund, these stories and outcomes are a direct result of the generosity shown on an ongoing basis.
