Virpur is the Pilgrimage place (in India) of Saint Jalarambapa & Virbai Maa.
Shree Jalarambapa and Virbai maa started Sadavrat (hot soup kitchen) 200 years ago and spent all their lives serving food to all who came there and also looked after the underprivileged with other requirements.
The King of Gondal, got Bapa's permission to start sadavrat at Charkhadi (3 to 4 kms away from Virpur) Unfortunately, after a period of time it stopped.
However, since the last ten years, with the support of the board and devotees of Shree Jalaram Mandir Greenford (England), a hot soup kitchen has been in operation every Thursday, at Charkhadi where on average 500-600 children are served a meal.
In following Bapa's ethos, the trustees and volunteers of Charkhadi Temple have recently started serving food to the children of the local farm workers, many of whom live in slums.
It has also come to notice that many of these children and mothers do not have basic clothing and footwear.
Devotees of Shree Jalaram Mandir Greenford under the guidance of Sailesbhai Chotai & Kirtibhai Maniar have decided to take part in the annual charity walk from Rajkot to Virpur ( approx 65KM ) on 15 th February, 2020 to raise funds for Charkhadi Children.
The current annual cost of this project is circa £10,000 as below :
Weekly cost of food provided to the children (500-600)
(£125*52 weeks) £6500
Cost of two pairs of clothes & footwear to the children living in slum area(100 children*£25) one time a year £2500
Cost of two Sarees and footwear to women living in slum areas - one time a year
(50 Women*£20) £1000
Projected Annual cost £10,000
The aim is to create this reserve, so that funds are available at all times and the food serving to the children in Charkhadi and surrounding slum area every week continues
I look forward to your support for this noble cause. A small amount of your contribution will go a long way to improving some children's future
