KIRSTY'S TREK TO EVEREST BASE CAMP!
I'm not sure if I'm MAD or brave but in October 2013 I will be taking part in a gruelling 12 day trek to Everest Base Camp to raise money for the charity CLIC Sargent!
The trek will see myself and 25 employees from Santander hike to our heart's content to the base camp of the world's highest mountain. It is not going to be easy... The base camp is 5,364 metres above sea level which is not just high but SKY-HIGH and 3,353 times taller than me. This will push my Scottish determination to its limit because there can be no giving up here. Oh no! Every penny raised is going straight to CLIC Sargent who provide support for children and young people with cancer and with your help I hope to raise £2,000 for this worthwhile cause.
I can't even imagine what it must feel like for anyone, let alone a child, to find out they have been diagnosed with cancer. It must be terrifying... And yet every day 10 children in the UK do hear this shocking news. CLIC Sargent provide clinical, practical, financial and emotional support to help them cope and get the most out of life. I have been reading about their work on their website and it is both heart-breaking and inspiring to learn how CLIC Sargent help these wee kids through such a challenging & frightening time.
Please please donate if you can, no matter how big or how small, it will be life-changing for children & young people with cancer all across the UK.
