The Big Swing · 23 March 2013 to 24 March 2013 ·

Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the only charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

Update: Doing the Big Swing on the weekend of 1/2 June now!!

I spend every day trying to get other people signed up to do fundraising events so I decided it was about time I took part in one myself!

At the start of June, I'm going to jump off the 150ft Titan Crane and then 'swing' out over the Clyde River, nothing too exciting! To get an idea what that's like, watch the video at www.stroke.org.uk/bigswing It's probably going to be rather scary but it's all for a great cause!

I hear inspirational stories from stroke survivors and their families every day and I've seen first hand the positive impact the Stroke Association has had on them.

The charity funds vital research into stroke, campaigns for change, raises awareness of stroke and stroke prevention and provides valuable information and support to everyone touched by stroke.

A stroke is a brain attack and can happen to anyone, of any age, at any time. 1 in 6 of us will have a stroke in our lifetime and around 13,000 people have a stroke in Scotland every year. Stroke severely disables more people in Scotland than any other illness or condition and is the third biggest killer in this country but recieves much less attention. The Stroke Association is trying to change that and raise much needed awareness.

I'd be forever grateful if you would like to sponsor me and I promise I will definately do it (there will be plenty of witnesses and I'll try to get photos!)
