our 9month old baby boy Frankie has just been diagnosed with severe brachycephaly also known as flat head syndrome.

He needs to be fitted with a special helmet to correct his head shape while he is young and still has soft spots.

I had gestational diabetes during pregnancy and on scans it always picked up that His head was growing large, I wAs induced at 37 weeks by natural delivery. It can also be caused by laying in the same way for example on his back. The back is very flat but one side is worse then the other.

If left untreated it could cause more problems for example not being able to wear glasses if needed in the future, it could also affect the alignment of the jaw and teeth and sadly it could lead to Frankie being bullied at school.

The NHS don't fund the treatment because they class it as 'cosmetic' . Helmet therapy costs £1950 and it has been recommended after measurements and a scan that frankie starts straight away as it's severe, this is why we are fund raising.
