Fundraising for Wallace & Gromit's Grand Appeal
Story

Nigel and I (Kirsty) are running Bath Half Marathon again this year to raise money for The Grand Appeal. As most of you know, our son Teddy was born with multiple complex congenital heart defects which has required 3 open heart surgeries so far, the most recent being just before New year
When he was born, we were given parent accomodation in cots for Tots and then grand appeal house, where we stayed for the 4 weeks he was in hospital. This accomdation means so much in so many ways. As Bristol Children's Hospital cover a huge area throughout the South West and Wales, it's a warm dry place to get some much needed sleep and for those families that are thrown into the madness of NICU and PICU, they shouldn't have to sleep in their car or worry about travelling up to 3 hours to be close to their child. With the fully equipped kitchen, it also means families can save some money by cooking their own meals and not rely on takeaways or ready meals.
During Teddy's next couple of visits to the hospital, it really hit home that The Grand Appeal fund so much more than the accomodation. They fund state of the art, life saving equipment, something you don't really think about. They help fund the play therapists who make hospital life less scary. They help fund Christmas presents so those children in over Christmas still get a visit from Santa. The list goes on...
