Story
Due to the impact of the coronavirus, St Barnabas Hospice is facing huge financial losses. This is because charity shops had to close for a period of time, fundraising events had to be cancelled and fundraising activities were reduced.
Some of the wonderful staff at Church Walk Surgery Metheringham are wanting to put their running/walking shoes on and raise some much needed funds for St Barnabas Hospice Lincoln by supporting their “Don’t quit, get fit” campaign.
This will take place between 01st May and 30th June, 10 staff are taking part and committing to 20 miles a week each, over the 2 months that makes our target of 1600 miles. It is a 20 mile round trip for our patients and their loved ones from Metheringham to St Barnabas Lincoln to attend the hospice. We felt that gave some meaning to our walk and we want to raise a minimum of £500.
Did you know that:
£5 pays for a 3 course meal for a patient receiving specialist care.
£34 pays for physiotherapy or occupational therapy sessions to help maintain a patients independence.
£120 pays for a hospice at home nurse to care for a patient in their own home.
£367 pays for counselling and bereavement support sessions to help patients mas their families through a difficult time.
£682 pays for a patient to stay in the hospice for specialist 24 hour end of life care.
This service is so valuable to all the patients and their relatives so any support you feel you can give would make such a difference.
