All who know me, know how much my beautiful Nana means to me. She became a second mother to me at 74 and did an amazing job in teaching me so much about life and how to deal with anything and everything life throws at you.

For the last two years, i have been watching my Nana steadily decline with this horrible disease. Although I know my little lady is still in there, she is a shadow of the fiesty, stubborn, caring, hilarious, loving and beautiful person she was. In fact, has zero quality of life now. More needs to be done to care for people suffering from this horrible disease and also to support the families of the sufferers.

Last July, I lost my Grandad Stones to the same disease. His wonderful wife, children and grandchildren cared for him from beginning to end at home, with the help of care staff. More support and advice needs to be provided for the families who are able to be the main carers. I don't think people understand how hard it can be.

If my Nana understood what I was telling her, she would never believe i was actually running a race for her and I'm sure many other people are struggling with the idea of me doing moderate exercise too. So now you really know this must mean a lot to me.

Even £1 would make me think I've achieved something - apart from maybe an injury - so please, just give a little to enable a lot more to be done.
