Story
Last October, full of beer and bravado, I entered the London Marathon ballot, buoyed on by the statistical unlikelihood of getting a place. And, guess what…
So, now much of the pain of training is behind me, I have decided to rustle up some support for a small charity: Hope for Hypothalamic Hamartomas, run by my lovely friend and colleague Emma Nott.
Emma’s son Charlie has this condition, causing epilepsy, and theirs has been a very rocky road to obtaining the correct diagnosis and appropriate treatment. In 2009, Emma and three other mothers set up the charity in order to support patients and caregivers, to spread awareness of the condition amongst medical professionals and to promote research into this rare but often devastating condition, and that of other focal epilepsies.

The charity is entirely volunteer run, and every penny raised is spent on research or patient support. This is a rare opportunity for me to fundraise for Hope for HH, and for you to contribute to the valuable work that they do.
