We challenge attitudes on mental health to help anyone affected by mental illness

Story

Thanks so much for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and find out more about what I'm up to!

This September, I'll be heading north to Fort William in the Scottish Highlands. Armed with a good pair of walking boots and some (hopefully won't be much needed) waterproofs, I'll be trekking up Ben Nevis in order to raise money for the brilliant Rethink charity.

Great, but why?!

On a personal level I have known so many people who've been affected by one form or other of mental health issue - and if you know me, then you know someone too.

The stats tell us that 1 in 4 people are affected by some form of mental health issue at some point in their lives, but yet it's something so many of us don't really want to talk about. We have fears about how others will respond, how it will affect our relationships, our ability to work or seek work etc. It's a hard thing to manage and work through, but I think that having the right support at the right time is invaluable. It's certainly been invaluable in times of my life when I've needed support, and my attempt at climbing up a mountain is really my way of giving something back. If I can raise a bit of money to help support others who live with more severe forms of mental health disorder then I think that that's a very good thing.

I'm really looking forward to my trek, and really looking forward to fundraising. Over the next few months I'll aim to twist a few arms for some spare pennies and pounds in all manner of ways - so keep your eyes peeled for more updates and news!

I would LOVE it if you would help me reach my target my making a donation here online. Absolutley any donation - no matter how big or small - will be appreciated and will help me on the way to achieving my goal. So big thank yous in advance!!!!

If you have any questions, any great ideas for fundraising or would like to get involved and help me, please drop me a line at kirsty.mason@bdacreative.com - I'd love to hear from you!

Kirsty xx
