Story
After training since last summer, David and myself will be embarking on some big open water swims for Bobath Scotland. On the 4th of Aug I will be swimming the length of Lubnaig, a chilly 5.8k. Then on the 25th of Aug we will be doing the Great Scottish Swim together in Loch Lomond. What an amazing friend David is...going from swimming a couple of lengths front crawl to aiming for a mile in the open water for this great cause.
Bobath Scotland supports children and adults with cerebral palsy to live as fulfilling and independent a life as possible. As most of you know I have cerebral palsy and with a lot of hard work Bobath therapy was instrumental in getting me on my feet. My inspiring parents, along with a few others, fundraised to get the Scottish Bobath Centre up and running 25 years ago, it has gone from strength to strength since. However, living with the challenges and stigma associated with cerebral palsy can still be huge and the gaps in service provision massive. For e.g. without Bobath there would be no dedicated services for adults with cerebral palsy. They get 90% of their funding from charity. Hopefully these challenges will generate valuable pounds to give others with cerebral palsy the same chances I had.
Thank you so much for your support. Xxx
