Story

Running the Birmingham half marathon all started when a group of SRFC rugby mum's were looking for their next keep fit goal.  We knew it would be quite a feat as many of us could barely run 100 meters let alone 13.1 miles but if we could stand pitch side in the freezing micro climate of SRFC for 5 months of the year - it had to be possible!  Soon after signing up for the half marathon we decided we would like to raise money for a good cause and it was during a Sunfield fundraising event held at our local hair salon, Phinix, that we met Rachel, mum of Stanley.  She was an inspirational lady who shared the ups and downs of Stanley's journey and the hugely positive effect Sunfield has had on their whole family.

"Stanley is a wonderfully creative, funny and extremely lovable 8 year old boy.  He is also one of the very rare 1% of the world who cope with his profound level of autism.  Everyday is a battle for Stanley, and until he got that place at Sunfield, a battle he wasn't winning.  Every child at Sunfield is fighting the type of battle that would break most of us and Stanley is no exception.  At Sunfield Stanley receives the therapeutic care he needs through specialist staff and programmes, as a family I don't know what we would do without Sunfield.  I'm sure many other families feel the same way.  Stanley has flourished under their specialist care, they gave him back a voice and helped him find his giggle.  I'm extremely grateful to Liz Fisher and her friends for supporting Sunfield" - by Stanley's mom Rachel.
