Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am fundrasing on behalf of Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland (CHSS). This is my first charity event and I am very excited to be part of a team who are passionate about good causes.
So...some background information on the charity first.
Chest illness is the biggest single reason for using the NHS as chest related problems account for more calls on NHS resources than any other illness.
Heart disease is one of Scotland's biggest killers. Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) is a preventable disease which causes the premature deaths of more than 9,000 people in Scotland every year and is one of the most common causes of death in Scotland.
Stroke is the main cause of disability in the community and is the third most common cause of death. There are approximately 13,000 new strokes in Scotland each year. Of these approximately 3,000 are in someone under 65. There are thousands of husbands, wives, children and friends who care for people who have had a stroke, whose lives are directly affected.
CHSS provided useful information and publications regarding the illnesses and information on groups and clubs who offer ongoing support to not only those living with the condition but families and friends.
CHSS is certainly a worthwhile charity to raise money for, these illnesses affect thousands of families every year, directly and indirectly. Continuous fundrasing will allow CHSS to raise awareness of the illnesses through campeigning, education and training, and research. CHSS need to raise £5 million every year in order to continue and grow their vital community services and research projects.
So what do I plan to do in order to fundraise for CHSS.....well I will be going White Water Rafting in Grandtully, Perthshire, there will be a team of 8 colleagues. The Challenge combines a break-neck 3 mile flat water race followed by 3 miles shooting of the rapids. The team will experience some of the fastest white water in Scotland, between Aberfeldy and Grandtully and we will be pushed to our limits for 2hrs of intense physical competition and heart stopping action! It will be absolutely freezing so who know what kind of state I will be in after 2 hours on the water, or in the water depending on how tight I hold on.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Please dig deep and donate to this good cause. I promise I will get as many embarrasing photos as possible for everyone to see!
Thank you
