Walking our Mammaries, 16 May 2022
In May 2022, 8 women, all who have had a lobular breast cancer diagnosis, are walking Scottish mountains named after breasts to raise funds for Lobular Breast Cancer UK. Lobular is a distinct disease that is understudied and misunderstood.

Story

I am one of eight women and a founder member of  the Charity Lobular Breast Cancer U.K. (LBCUK).  We have all had a diagnosis of lobular breast cancer or, like me, stage 4 metastatic or incurable lobular breast cancer.

‘Walking our Mammaries’ is a tough six-day mountain challenge to raise awareness, as well as money, to create educational materials, pilot workshops and to find a network of patients and cancer researchers.

We’ll be walking hills and mountains named after breasts in the Scottish Highlands. We will be exploring the Mamores that mean ‘big breasts’ in Gaelic and heading to the top of the Pap (breast or nipple) of Glencoe.

Every £1 donated will go directly towards the vital work necessary to ensure no one dies of lobular breast cancer in the future.

About the charity

Lobular Breast Cancer UK is a patient advocacy charity working to ensure that everyone diagnosed with lobular breast cancer lives and lives well. Lobular makes up 15% of all breast cancers diagnosed and rarely forms a lump due to its unique growing pattern making it hard to see on scans.
