Story
Victoria Jackson was my partner in crime, best friend, guardian to my eldest child Mabel and the most vibrant human you could ever have the privilege to meet.
It was six weeks from diagnosis when Vic lost her battle with melanoma. She was 34. I was lucky enough to be be one of the very few who got to say goodbye to her at Christie's hospital on Tuesday June 5th. Each and every day I miss her. Things that I would love to tell her, silly things that only she would get, how proud I am of Mabel and the pain of knowing how proud she would be too. A sunset, a walk, a late night chat, watching a film under the duvet. A glass of wine...
Vic and I had a lot of fun. We loved our after-work/weekend/Sunday afternoon drinks. And I know that wherever she is, she would be laughing her head off at me for setting myself this challenge. I can hear her saying 'You are going to be so boring - no one will like you - why would you do this? SELFISH!' Which is what she said to me when I massively annoyed her by getting pregnant.
I am a mum of two, I am not sporty, I work full time in a job that I love but that I give my all to. My treat is the glass of wine after a crazy day, tough week, or just because. And this I am giving up to raise money - along with my other beautiful friends who make up the other three quarters of the fundraising for our website - www.forourvic.co.uk - in memory of our much missed, much loved and forever remembered beauty. Victoria.
Please, please, please support me. Melanoma is a massively underfunded subject and a scarily common cancer which needs to be eliminated from our lives. Every penny counts in this fight and your backing will help me to achieve this ridiculous (and quite frankly annoying) challenge I have set myself. But I will do it. Please look at our website for all the info you need on what we are trying to do.
