Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our family JustGiving page.

Our next challenge to raise crucial funds for Keech is The National Three Peaks Challenge!

The National Three Peaks Challenge for The Green Team involves climbing the three highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales, within 24 hours. Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, Snowdon, 23-miles in three stages and a total ascent of 3064 metres!

Lester, David, Wayne, Dale and Andrew are taking on this challenge 11-12th July 2024 in aid of our chosen family charity Keech Hospice Care…

Our ongoing support for Keech stems from the phenomenal care they provided for James Dennis Green’s end of life.

(Father in Law to Lester and Grandfather to Wayne, also a Grandfather through marriage to David, Dale and Andrew).

More recently Keech supported us through the sudden loss of Eileen Elsie Green (Mother and Grandmother) with palliative care referrals and plans to move her to the Hospice, however sadly, Eileen didn’t make it there as her battle was over very quickly.

Over the years Keech have had a huge impact in the lives of many of our friends too - a local Hospice that need continued fundraising support to ensure they will be there in the future, for those who need them most.

About the challenge:

The three mountains are:

• Snowdon, in Wales (1085m)

• Scafell Pike, in England (978m)

• Ben Nevis, in Scotland (1345m)

Scafell Pike is the tallest in England; Snowdon, the tallest in Wales and Ben Nevis the tallest in Scotland

The total walking distance is 23 miles (37km) and the total ascent is 3064 metres (10,052ft)

The total driving distance is 462 miles.

The men will also be sharing the driving as well as completing the enduring hikes - making the challenge even more exhausting!

Any donation big or small will be greatly appreciated to support our men’s efforts with their challenge and it will enable us to keep giving back as much as we can to Keech Hospice.

Our family choose to continue supporting the wonderful Staff at Keech who cared for our wonderful Dad and Grandad James Dennis Green 11 years ago.

After a short, aggressive battle with Pancreatic and Liver Cancer we lost our beloved Head of our family in just 5 weeks, he fell asleep on 22nd April 2013.

Fast forward 11 years, the same month, the same diagnosis and, sadly, an even shorter fight for our bright, vibrant Mum and Nanny, Eileen Elsie Green, who passed away after a 2 week battle on 24th April 2024.

The palliative care team assessed and supported us with Eileen’s referral to Keech Hospice too but sadly she fell asleep before she could get there…

The coincidence is unbelievable - but we know Jim was calling for his Eileen… “C’mon Eileen”
