Story
Early in 2016, I am going to work for several months as a Volunteer Midwife Trainer in Malawi with Maternity Worldwide, and I am raising money to support their projects in Malawi, Uganda and Ethiopia.
Through my many years as a midwife I have become ever more
aware of the role that social context plays in the way we deliver care, and in outcomes for women and their babies. There can be no doubt of the value of timely and appropriate input for childbearing women and their families.
Every day 800 women die in pregnancy and childbirth, 99% of
these deaths being in poor and under resourced countries. Maternity Worldwide saves lives in childbirth in developing countries by training local medical staff, empowering women and local communities and improving access to health facilities.

I’d be delighted if you could support their important work
by making a donation, however small.
