Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Our son Louis was born at 40+4 on the 31st May 2019 after an uneventful pregnancy. Soon after Louis was born he became critically ill and was transferred to the cardiac intensive care unit at Great Ormond street for ECMO and further investigations to find out what was wrong with his heart.
Every member of the team on CICU were amazing and did everything they possibly could for our son, he had two nurses looking after him 24 hours a day and a huge team working together to try and find out what was wrong.
After an angiogram in the cath lab (he needed six people to take him for this test) the cardiologist confirmed the most devastating news that no parent ever wants to hear- Louis has a very rare heart condition called Total anamolous pulmonary venous drainage (TAPVD) which was inoperable.
Withdrawing life support was the hardest thing we have ever had to do, however the staff were amazing throughout and our family were able to spend precious time with Louis which made saying goodbye to our baby as peaceful as it could have been.
Although there was nothing that could have been done for our son, we know that he had the best care possible from an incredible team.
Kirk has decided to do the tower climb to support GOSH so please give generously!!
