Story
My name is Martin Johnston and I was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in August 2018, which has been a difficult time for myself and my family.
My children Calum (11) and Sophie (7) recently decided they wanted to take part in an event to raise money for a MND charity. We 100% thought this was a brilliant idea and they chose the Gung-Ho event at Castle Fraser on the 16th May 2020.
The next step was to ask their friends if they would like to join them in taking part. And since then they have had a massive response from friends and their parents which means they will have an additional 40+ participants on the day and helping raise much needed awareness and funds for research in to Motor Neurone Disease, whilst having a day of fun at Gung-Ho.
We decide to choose the My Name’5 Doddie foundation due to the amazing work Doddie Weir is doing in raising awareness and funding for research which gives people like me hope that a cure can be found. And also mainly as Doddie is a huge inspiration to me as I fight this disease with a positive outlook and determination.
I am very proud of my children for coming up with such a great idea and for all their friends for agreeing to join them for a day of fun.
If you would like to contribute something, however little, your support would be very much appreciated.
