King's College Hospital NHS Trust, Haematology Department
14 of the staff of King's College Hospital NHS Trust Haematology Department are getting together to raise funds for the Elimination of Leukaemia Fund (affectionately know as ELF) which was set up by Derek Mitchel, whose wife, Isobel, had chronic myeloid leukaemia. Both husband and wife decided that there was a need for King's to have a specific facility for haematological malignancies and ELF gave money to King's for the specialist Derek Mitchel unit to be opened in his honour. ELF continues to support both research and development in the unit and provides us with funds for many other initiatives to improve patient comfort.
We will be undertaking the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek one of the classic adventures in Nepal reaching the heart of the mountains over 15 days. There will be plenty of 'ups' and 'downs' and some walking days may be six or seven hours in duration at an altitude of 4500 metres. We believe this trip will challenge each of us and may, in some way, reflect the battle our patients have with leukaemia.
So, thank you for visiting our fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor us online. We have a huge target to reach!
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: ELF will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor us now!
Many thanks for your support.
