Story
I did it! 3hrs 25 minutes and 19 seconds of non-stop running to cover 26.2 miles.
Thanks to all of you who provided sage advice about pacing myself, holding some in reserve and making sure I didn't burn out too early. I took one look at the hot conditions (that's "really hot!") and decided to forget all my planning and run like an idiot for 16 miles, run sensibly for 2 or 3 and then plod (while gently weeping) for the last 7 or so.
That's right, I did the first half in 1hr 34, thought that I might be able to speed up to go under 3 hours and then found that my blood had turned to a thick sludge and my heart just couldn't beat fast enough to sustain the pace. The second half took me 1hr 51.
But I didn't walk - not once! Throughout it all, I thought that if Joe can dig in and get on with it, then so can I. He remained my inspiration throughout and made me determined to finish with a hint of a sprint.
Thank you to everyone who sponsored me. It really did make a difference - not only to me but also to boys and girls like Joe who's lives have been turned upside down. Thank you all very much.

PS - I'll try to change the photo for one taken on the day..
