This summer I'm going to Thailand for 6 weeks to work in an orphanage for less-abled children with Leeds University Raise and Give (RAG) society.

For Life aims to help children living with disabilities (ranging from Cerebral palsy to Downs syndrome) in the region of Pakkred, Bangkok. The Thai culture is predominantly Buddhist, and therefore children with disabilites are often abandoned due to beliefs surrounding reincarnation. An estimated 2000 children are in the care of orphanages, and try to provide as much care as possible. However, due to numbers and the lack of resources; they can only provide basic care and children are left to their own devices. For life, as an organisation provides activites and an environment to help these children have a fulfilling and substantial life.

 

For Life Aims

1. To provide financial aid for the disabled and abandoned children in South East Asia

2. To raise awareness for the plight of the forgotten children of Thailand

3. To educate the general public about the about the plight of the disabled abandoned children in Thaliand.
