Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have decided that I wanted to take part in the London Marathon to raise money for Asthma UK. I will be taking part in the April 24 marathon, as many of you know, i have recently had an operation on my knee and am still receiving ongoing treatment so have said I am not going for a time, I am just planning on crossing the finishing line.
The reason I chose Asthma UK................
Myself and various family members and friends are asthmatic. In 2020, myself and Derek opened a fitness facility in Dorchester, Dorset, since our time being open, we have helped numerous people who have asthma embark on their fitness journey. Exercise helps asthmatics by increasing lung capacity and reducing inflammation, which improves overall lung health and with the right approach can benefit asthma symptoms.
Having asthma myself, I want to show people that it shouldn't stop you being able to exercise in one way or another, whether it is a light stroll or taking part in a marathon, all whilst raising money for Asthma UK.
Did you know..........
- 5.4 million people in the UK are currently receiving treatment for asthma: 1.1 million children (1 in 11) and 4.3 million adults (1 in 12).
- Every 10 seconds someone is having a potentially life-threatening asthma attack in the UK.
- On average, 3 people die from an asthma attack in the UK every day
