The last time I saw Padge was his birthday last year. We were talking about me joining the Vigo Runners and possibly getting their marathon place. However that was if he and Richard didn't use it to do it one last time. Yep, that's what he said!

But then we had the awful news that Padge had had a huge heart attack whilst on holiday and had died. 

Padge was a special man to many people, that was clear by how many people were there to say goodbye at his funeral. That beautiful day we said goodbye to a dear friend and we also showed everyone the power of the SPOGs. The Paget family are the P in our group of friends, there are then the Standens, the Oags and the Grassicks. A group of friends who have been there for each other for over 20 years.

It was then very fitting that it was at a SPOGs gathering that I learnt that I had been given the Vigo Runners place for the London Marathon. I cried. From joy that I finally get to do something I have dreamed of for a long time, but also that it had to happen under such sad circumstances. 

I run the London Marathon with a sad but full heart. I run in Padge's name and to raise money for charities close to my heart. 

I will run on behalf of the SPOGs, and the Vigo Runners as a fitting tribute to a great man. 

The BHF sadly couldn't save Padge's life as it was so sudden, but by raising money and the profile of the charity hopefully it can save another family from the sadness and loss that Yvonne, Ben and Flip and their families have been through. Please give generously.
