Story
Picture the scene ... One blustery October afternoon in 2019 I find out I've been lucky enough to get one of the limited and much coveted ballot places in the London Marathon 2020. That night I slipped over, bruised the tendons in my foot and was out of running while I recovered. Two months later I started training the hardest I ever have before and reached the absolute peak of my fitness... only to find out one month before race day that coronovirus had arrived on our shores and the race was off.
One global pandemic, several virtual runs, one addition to the family and the very sad loss of one wonderful friend later I am finally going to run my 2020 London Marathon in April 2023.
I'm running in memory of Sally who passed away in summer 2022 following a short but horrible battle with cancer. Sally leaves behind a massive void in my life, a fellow knitter, planning geek and a friendly ear when we discussed all the ups and downs of life. There is no one quite like her and I miss her every day. I am raising funds for Bowel Cancer UK in the hope that the research they do will one day prevent other people from experiencing this horrible illness, and to fund the support they need when they sadly do.
Please give as generously as you can.
