Fundraising for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity
Story
After running the Manchester 10k for the past 5 years, this year I'm running The Great Yorkshire Run in aid of Great Ormond St on behalf of Premier Mobile Ltd. Its going to be hard work, so hopefully you can all dig deep and sponser me for this fantastic cause.
Premier Mobile has picked Great Ormond St Charity as its chosen charity for 2010.
Every year, Great Ormond St Children's Charity need to raise £50 million to help replace outdated, cramped wards with new modern facilities, provide essential equipment and fund groundbreaking research to help find cures for complex and difficult illnesses. Great Ormond St is an amazing place where amazing things happen every day and by raising funds, a real difference can be made to thousands of children and families who need help.
Why Great Ormond St?
Great Ormond St was chosen as Premier Mobile’s head office is in the centre of London. The daughter of one of Premier Mobile employees had been seriously ill with cancer and was cared for by the staff at Gt Ormond St. Everyone was impressed by the astounding job that the hospital does but aware that they always need funds so the connection seemed appropriate.
Premier Mobile are hoping to raise enough money to supply an Interview Room for the ECHO/ECG Department. The Echo/ECG unit forms part of Great Ormond St. clinical investigations unit on level 1 in the new Heart and Lung Centre. This is where cardiac day patients may come to have an electrocardiogram (ECG) which records the electrical activity of the heart over time or PACS which is the electronic version of an x-ray. The interview room is a separate room where patients can be interviewed privately and confidential and difficult discussions can be held with parents.
