We help the hospital offer a better future to seriously ill children across the UK

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am running the London marathon (if you know me, you will know that tarmac is not my running friend!) and 6 days later, my 12th Yorkshire Three Peaks Race. After vowing never to run a road marathon again, I took the opportunity to run London, the most iconic marathon in the world as an experience and as a chance to raise some money for a good cause.

One of my closest friends had a really tough time during the pandemic with a new baby who was very poorly. None of her family or friends could support her over this period and it was with the amazing help of Great Ormond Street Hospital and Cardiomyopathy UK that she and her family got through it.

Layla was seriously unwell at 6 weeks old and was in Paediatrics Intensive Care for a week. After various scans it was confirmed she had Dilated Cardiomyopathy which means the left hand side of her heart is very large and unable to pump blood efficiently around the body. She is looked after by a fantastic Cardiology team at GOSH and her medication is currently keeping her well. The charity Cardiomyopathy UK was very helpful in the early stages of diagnosis as they had up to date information and provide ongoing support to patients and families.

Caroline, Layla and her family are still living this every day so I wanted to do a little thing to support that. Please give what you can and I will do my best to run these races to thank you!
