Story
I completed in May 2023 the 30 day weighted Hooping challenge for Team Breathe. Raising money made me realise I wanted to carry on my Mum‘s legacy she started in 2016. My Mum, Sandy, helped Manchester University with testing for future medications for lung conditions for COPD, which is now licensed and used by patients including a family member. I wanted to carry her legacy on raising awareness for research and campaigning to support others with asthma and lung disease. Having lost my Mum to COPD, my daughter and I having brittle asthma and almost dying of an Asthma attack. The awful experience having to give CPR to my 14 yrs old daughter when an episode of respiratory failure occured due to a very bad asthma attack which she survived, plus another daughter and husband with asthma as well as other close family suffering from asthma and COPD this is a charity which is close to my heart. 2 years ago following a huge asthma attack which was life threatening it puts a different focus on life. Our family have recently lost the head of our family to COPD, his memory and others that mean the world to me will be with me in my thoughts throughout my fundraising. My need to pay forward to help others has given me a drive to support The Asthma and Lung UK Charity and give back, helping others through campaigns for research and support.
