Story

Next year I will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for Demelza Children's Hospice. Due to COVID-19 our challenge has now been moved 3 times since February 2021.I started working for Demelza in February 2019. After seeing what a wonderful charity Demelza is, I decided I wanted to give something back to support our wonderful families.

Bringing up children and raising a healthy, happy family is hard work at the best of times. When a child is born with or develops a terminal condition, the emotional and physical impact affects the whole family and can be overwhelming. At Demelza, we focus on supporting each child, young person and family we work with to achieve the best possible life. As specialists in care for young people and family support, we will continue to use our outstanding knowledge, experience and expertise to help families enjoy their lives together.

We strive to give the babies, children and young people we support and their families the best life possible. Our care services and facilities focus on promoting freedom and choice, giving our children the chance to express themselves, have fun and feel involved without ever compromising safety. Through around the clock care, play and therapy, the Demelza team supports parents in providing what each child needs, in the way that’s best for them.

We know so many parents have deep reservations about handing over the care of their children to someone else, and we understand it is hard to visit a hospice because it traditionally means the end of life. But at Demelza, we work every day to show our families we’re about supporting them to experience the joy in life, for however long that might be and in whatever way they can.

It is an absolute pleasure to work for Demelza. It is a huge privilege to be assisting our families at such a difficult time in their lives. I am Climbing Kilimanjaro to raise awareness of Children's Palliative Care and share with you all how wonderful Demelza really is :)

This is my biggest fundraiser yet with a huge target therefore I will be doing events to raise funds in the next 12 months. Please donate if you can, every penny really does count!

Big love,

Beth x
