Story

Dear All,

To celebrate our 30th birthdays, 6 of us have decided to do something meaningful, i.e. we will attempt to climb the world tallest free standing mountain, Kilimanjaro! We will kick off our amazing adventure on October 11th.

Ivan and myself will be raising money for a charity called “Save the Children – East Africa crisis”. This is a worthy cause aiming to respond to the food crisis in Eastern Africa. After only light showers during what should have been the rainy season, families have been forced to leave their homes in search of food. The drought has caused crops to fail and cattle to die. The lack of clean water has increased the spread of disease, leaving children vulnerable to life-threatening illnesses like cholera. The last time famine affected this part of Africa, 250,000 people died – 130,000 of them were children.

The charity will be providing urgently needed food, water and medical treatments to the children in need.

Given our lack of time to prepare over the last 6 months this adventure will be a real challenge and therefore have an ambitious fundraising target - any donation towards this great cause will be hugely appreciated.

We thank you in advance for your support and will not forget to send you a picture from the top (hopefully)! For those interested to follow our progress during the climb, our guides (Kandoo Adventures) will post updates on our group’s trek on their Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/kandooadventures). And for Instagrammers you can follow our trek updates on @kandooadventures.
