⭐️ New Fundraising Target ⭐️
Thanks to a whopping donation from the Edward Dee Fund I have set myself a new fundraising target of £3,500 #forEdward
Why?
I'm raising money for the Meningitis Research Foundation, and in August 2023 climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in memory of Edward Dee a friend who passed away with meningitis.
Edward and I were enthusiastic members of the 8th Lytham Cub Scout Group. We met every week at the hut and enjoyed the boisterous camaraderie. I was a keen runner, and so was he. We were the fastest in the group, which says much about Edward as he was 10 and I was 12. He was also a first-rate swimmer and had entered several triathlons. He was a fit and healthy lad. We were looking forward to Christmas in December 2016 when Edward suddenly fell ill and lost his life to meningitis and sepsis.
It is the “Spirit of Edward” that has inspired me to take on this challenge #forEdward, and I’m delighted to be part of the Reading University Kilimanjaro campaign which has made this possible. The trek is self-funded, so every penny raised will be helping in the fight against meningitis and septicaemia.
At the summit I will leave a stone for Edward. To find out more

"I wanted to express my personal thanks to Maurice for taking on this challenge. Not only is this a fantastic opportunity for raising awareness of meningitis and sepsis, and of raising vital funds for Meningitis Research Foundation, but this is such a wonderful opportunity, a brilliant challenge, and one which I know Edward would have loved. I am incredibly touched that you are doing this in his memory, and know he will be beside you every step of the way ... probably racing you to that final peak."
