Story
So here’s a bit of a background story...
A good friend from my Hartpury days, Jacob Pritchard Webb, was in the early years of his racing career in France. In June 2020, his horse took a nasty fall mid race, leaving Webby with several serious breaks including ribs, sternum and a number of broken vertebrae. A broken and displaced T4, has left him with a compressed spinal cord resulting in paralysis from the waist down.
With some amazing support from family, friends and some incredible fundraising efforts last year, Webby’s made a huge amount of progress in adapting to his new way of life.
I had been thinking of setting some personal challenges to keep myself motivated during lockdown, so when my (crazy) friend, Alice, mentioned she was doing a 100k run in April, I jumped at the chance to join her! So, for the month of April, Alice, Matt and myself will be running regularly to accumulate a distance of 100k individually and hopefully raise a few pennies for The Injured Jockey Fund. The IJF has and continues to provide incredible support for Webby and his family, just like they do for many other injured jockeys and their families.
This will be a huge physical challenge for me, so any donation will gratefully received, so thank you in advance. 🥰 if anyone else has completely lost their mind and wants to join us in this challenge, then I can get the link sent over to join ‘Jake’s 100k Crew’.
