Kiki wants to wish all children a Happy Valentine's Day! Sadly, some children won't be at school to exchange cards on February 14th. They are receiving special care from the dedicated healthcare professionals, carers and volunteers who work in facilities funded by the Children's Health Foundation of Vancouver Island. One facility is the Queen Alexandra Centre for Children's Health, where the foundation funds programs that provide vital help to kids and youth struggling with physical and mental health challenges. Another is Jeneece Place, the foundation's home away from home where children and their families from across Vancouver Island can stay while receiving medical care in Victoria.
Kiki's caregiver was an immigrant to Victoria many years ago. She remembers Valentine's Day. Back then, children only gave cards to their friends. Today, schools are wonderfully inclusive as children share cards with all of their classmates. But what about those children who can't be at school? Let's include them. Let's help them get well by donating to the Children's Health Foundation.
Kiki will be walking 10 km on February 14th to deliver her message to as many households as possible. Her caregiver is not on social media but is grateful to anyone who uses social media and can share the fundraising link. Our fundraiser will remain open for donations until the end of the month.
With love from Kiki and her Family
