Story
Hi everyone,
Firstly, many thanks for taking the time to read this. I am training for my first marathon in Belfast on May 2nd. Why run a marathon? Well I'm 30 in October and I want to run a marathon before then! It is also one of those things on the 'to do list' that just needs to be done. It will be a huge challenge but that is one of the big reasons for doing it.
Macmillan Cancer Support is one of the main charities attached to the Belfast City Marathon. What better charity to contribute to? Find out more about what they do here http://www.macmillan.org.uk/Home.aspx. Cancer touches every 1 in 3 people so we have all been touched by it or know someone very close who has been. These are very very tough economical times, but anyone with cancer would swap everything to just have an overdraft to worry about. Please consider giving 50cent/pence, £/€ 1, 5, 10 or whatever you can afford. Nothing is too small and like Tesco ‘every little helps’!!
A small donation x lots of people = a lot of money!!
I am doing my last long run this Saturday 9th, 20 miles, wish me luck. I have been training since January and have clocked up about 200 miles in training. Hopefully I will be prepared enough for 26.2 miles on the 2nd of May.
I will try and keep updates on Facebook.
All the best and if you feel like donating something, even 50 cent, thanks very much (it will make it worthwhile for me and drive me on during the last miles which I am sure will be difficult). By the way, if you don't fancy making an online payment, if you are near Mullingar or Belfast please try and see me before, on or after May 2nd. I hope that is helpful.
For UK tax payers, could you please tick the 'Gift Aid' box so that the charity can claim an extra 25p for everyone £ you sponsor. This will cost you absolutely nothing extra but can boost sponsorship by 25%.
With my best regards,
Kieran
