Fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support
Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Long story short… a conversation over a few beers turned into me gaining a last minute place into the 2018 London Marathon!
Unfortunately it was only a month into training and only 10 weeks before the event that I sprained my ankle so badly that I was unable to run at all for 8 weeks which left me no time to train properly and build strength back into my ankle. Luckily the amazing people at Macmillan allowed me to defer my marathon place until 2019!
When I first received the news that I’d got a place I was absolutely over the moon, especially as I had tried to enter twice before with Macmillan and been unsuccessful. It’s been 5years since I’ve done an endurance event like this so it’s also a little daunting! I’ve never tried to raise money for Charity before but knowing that people are supporting me will most definitely keep me focused and make sure that when I’m standing on that start line, I’ll know that I haven’t scrimped on my training because so many people are counting on me.
Macmillan Cancer Support was always going to be my chosen charity due to how incredible our nurse was when my father fought and eventually lost his battle with cancer back in 1997. I’m running the Marathon in his memory and to support the nurses at Macmillan. They really are angels on earth and they would not be there without people raising money by doing events like this so it’s about time I did my part.
Please help me reach my goal by donating whatever you can, I promise I will give it my all and I will keep this page updated with my training progress.
