Story
Hi everyone,
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
After completing the annual September Dementia Walk for the past 2 years, I have decided next month I am going sober for October, something which not many people believe I can or will do! All jokes aside, I am doing this to raise awareness for a fantastic charity in Alzheimer's Scotland, a charity which has done so much for my family over the past 2 years.
Roughly this time 2 years ago, my Grandpa (Papsy) was diagnosed with dementia. Papsy has been and always will be a monumental figure in our family, so to see him diagnosed with this horrible condition was upsetting for all of us. Many people believe dementia is just someone becoming a touch forgetful. Yes, in the beginning stages this is the case, however as time progresses it develops into so many more complications and situations.
This time last year, after contacting them, Alzheimer's Scotland were able to help my Mum in finding many different activities to keep my Grandpas life enjoyable, activities such as music groups and day trips. They also funded a holiday to Millport for my Mum, Gran and Grandpa before my Grandpa was taken into care. Despite being such a big organisation, Alzheimer's Scotland rely on donations to continue the fantastic service they provide.
So I, and also my family would hugely appreciate any donation to this just giving page to help Alzheimer's Scotland continue to provide a fantastic service for families in a similar situation to mine. And I'm also sure Papsy would be very appreciative as well!
Thanks,
Kieran x
