Story
Willen Hospice provides specialist end-of-life care for adults, focusing on four key areas: specialist symptom control, emotional support, spiritual support and care for carers.Often the most distressing aspect of living with life-limiting illnesses is the types of pain and symptoms which can arise. Their team of dedicated staff and volunteers can give compassionate, specialist support to patients, and their family members, to help deal with, as they wish to, the physical and emotional effects of both their illness and treatments.
Whilst a portion of their running costs come from government
funding, they rely heavily on generous donations and fundraising from the local community to make up the rest. Each year the hospice needs to raise a minimum of £4,706,000, or £9 a minute, to be able to provide the level of care patients deserve, free of charge.
Back in 2014 I witnessed how hard all the staff at the hospice work to make patients and their families feel comfortable and supported whilst my grandmother was being looked after. They put my family's minds at ease and demonstrated what it really means to go the extra mile for somebody. If you have any spare amount of money which you can donate, it will be greatly appreciated by not only myself, but the hundreds of people that enter the hospice each year.
Thankyou
