This is a lot of walking for someone with one leg and arthritis in my remaining foot.
You can help me by joining me, sharing my page and story or donating £2.60, £26 or any other amount you can afford. We plan to have 100 amputees onsite taking part in 13 different sports and 10 different exercise and dance classes.
Why
The LimbPower Games is my baby, it was the reason I started LimbPower. The first games was launched in 2006 to support adults with an amputation and limb difference into physical activity and sport.
When we launched this event there were no live events for the amputee community. No impairment specific sporting opportunities or gatherings to socialises and reduce isolation. This event inspired a community to engage in physical activity and sport in a safe and supportive environment aware from stares with other people like me. 16 years later and it is still the only impairment specific multi-sport event for amputees and individuals with limb difference.
The LimbPower Games has supported hundreds of amputees and individuals with limb difference back into physical activity and and sport and catapulted some thirty participations over the years to national and international competition. It costs around £200 for one participant to attend the LimbPower Games and we only charge a nominal reg fee of &15 a day. This is why we need your financial support.
The Adult Camp is a life changing event support amputees and individuals with limb difference to work outside of the comfort zone and try different outdoor activities such as climbing, abseiling canoeing, cycling and walking. These events build confidence, self-esteem and lifelong friendships. The mental and social health of amputees is just as important at the physical health.
The Confidence Workshops - these events are so important for people who's self-esteem has been affected by the body disfigurement. Losing a limb is devastating and life changing, impacting on self-esteem, self-confidence and relationships. These workshops are confidence-boosting, offering a make over and make-up advice, a chance to meet other women 'Like Me' and have a photoshoot with a professional photographer.
Thank you for supporting me and the limb different community.
