Story
My name is Khaled and I am on the ground delivering your much needed aid in West Africa for Aid 4 Ummah.
I am currently in Hodh El Gharbi in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, where I have come across a set of 17 impoverished villages, all of which are home to ex-slaves who were freed by their masters in and around 2007. With a combined population of approximately 20,000 people spanning across almost 30km on the border between Mauritania and Mali, these 17 ex-slave villages currently only have one small mosque. The villagers are desperately appealing for assistance to help construct a further eight mosques and madrasas, thereby enabling all 17 villages access to basic Islamic facilities In sha Allah.
During slavery, they were denied access to education and are consequently struggling to financially support themselves. Every year, there are cases of malnutrition, some of which result in death. During the sweltering dry summer months, nursing mothers are often unable to produce breast milk for their babies because they themselves haven't eaten for over 24 hours subhan'Allah.
We are all aware of the virtues and immense reward for freeing a slave, so let's support our brothers and sisters from this poverty-stricken ex-slave community by providing them with an adequate number of mosques so that they and their future generations can worship Allah in comfort and dignity, praying to their Lord for a better future.
If you are interested in supporting this uniquely tragic cause, please donate now. BarakAllahu feekum.
