Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. RMA - The Royal Marines Charity exists to help the entire Royal Marines family. Offering a range of services to both serving, veterans and their families.
This triathlon was born when Monty Halls and Rory Aitken decided mid-pandemic 2020 to do a socially distanced race. It is a challenging 226Km in total over land and sea and will also be mentally testing. Starting with a 3.8km swim around Blackpool Sands, in
Devon, an 180km cycle around Devon/Dartmouth finishing with an out and back coastal path marathon achieving a total of 3500m climbing.
Although some brave souls are doing the full triathlon, I am doing the marathon discipline along the undulating South West Coast Path, but this is still going to be a tough challenge.
I joined the Royal Marines in 1989 and served for nine enjoyable years. The Corps trained and moulded me into a very different person to the one that walked into Commando Training Centre at the age of 19, instilling in me many values that I still hold in high regard over 30 years later.
Through that time friends and fellow Bootnecks have paid the ultimate sacrifice. Others have personally inspired me having been left with life debilitating injuries. They have refused to let these injuries stop them from living a full and rewarding life. It is for these brave men and their families that I will be doing this challenge and
giving it my best efforts.
