Story
I had planned to run my first ever marathon in London on 26th April 2020 and I had chosen to do this in memory of my daughter Rebecca who died of childhood cancer aged 7 in late 1995, 25 years ago.
I am now going to run the London Marathon 2021 in London on October 3rd 2021! Due to Covid19 I ran the Virtual London Marathon in October 2020 by running the full marathon distance, 26.2 miles, around the roads near my home.
During her illness CLIC Sargent (now called Young Lives vs Cancer) were an amazing support to my whole family. The London Marathon will be a celebration of Rebecca's short life and a chance to raise funds for the great work of this charity.
£4 could pay for a Young Lives vs Cancer storybook that explains childhood cancer to children in simple, easy to understand language.
£46 could pay for a Young Lives vs Cancer Social Worker to be there soon after diagnosis, giving a family one-to-one support.
£100 could provide a family with a place to stay for 3 nights near a hospital during treatment.
Thank you so much for your support ... I will be thinking of Rebecca as I run spurred on by your generosity.
