We are moving further, faster to help everyone affected by a brain tumour

Story

On the 1st October 2012 my darling Kevin lost his battle and earned his wings.

In February the tumour grew very extensively and Kevin underwent debulking surgery in March. He then started a chemo cocktail to try and suppress the tumour but unfortunately by the end of June the tumour had returned and we were informed that unless we did something dramatic Kevin would succumb within weeks. So he commenced Tomotherapy - a type of radiotherapy - with chemo. He had this twice a day - in total 36 sessions! Although initially the treatment seemed to work, unfortunately the tumour grew again. In total we spent 8 1/2 weeks in hospital. His wish was to die at home and so in September we came home and with the help of a fantastic Community Team we fulfilled his wish. He died surrounded by the love of his family and in my arms.

It was an honour to care for him and he was truly inspirational in his fight against this devastating disease. So I have decided to continue the battle by setting up a Supporters Group in Kevin’s name - “Kevin Ackling Trust” with the Brain Tumour Charity.

On the 30th April - which would have been our Silver Wedding Anniversary - I will be doing a tandem skydive at the Hinton Airfield, Brackley to raise funds - all welcome!!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.  Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is recliamed on every eligible donation by a UK tax payer.

So please make a donation and help me in the fight against brain tumours.
