The reason for my page is to help get rid of the destroyer of lives that is Brain Tumours. Brain Tumours are not so widely known about yet there are 120 different types and a lot of them are killers. I have a grade 3 Tumour that will take my life but i live in hope that i will live long enough to see my Granddaughter grow up. I currently do not have the courage to go and see them in Malta as i was told by the specialists that i shouldn`t fly. Even though now they have given me the all clear to fly i cannot bring my self to do so as im afraid of what may happen as the cabin pressure and Brain Tumour would not be a good mix. Currently i will be lucky to see them once a year as finances are too tight to bring them from Malta on a regular basis.
I have put myself to good use by taking part in the Walk Around the World for Brain Tumours event that took place for the Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust between the 5th-11th October 2009. I formed 5 teams, one here at Yeovilton and others in Cornwall, Coventry, Canada and Malta. My team at Yeovilton walked a total of 13 miles around Portland in Dorset our route started at the Portland Heights (approx at 11am on the 11th October) following the coastal path along Westcliffe to Portland Bill Lighthouse, here we stopped for lunch at the Pulpit Arms. We then set off along the coastal path to Cheney House then down through the Pirates graves at Church Hope and then a slight diversion along the length of the old Railway line. We then made our way up to the Borstal prison and onward to the Verne and back to Portland Heights.
The set off time was the same as the other Teams i mentioned above and i have photo`s that i will publish soon.
I hope you all give generously, as little as £2 can go a long way to making us reach our target. Remember we must eradicate this dreadful Killer as so many peoples loved ones are taken away in their prime.
So please dig deep and donate now.
Best Wishes and thankyou to all
Kev.
