Story

I was asked by Helen Black in joining her on a Channel Swim to make up a 2 person relay, this swim consists of strict set of English Channel Rules which makes it equal on every attempt made across the Channel.
More people have climbed Mount Everest than swam across the Channel!
On our swim we will have to endure tides, the weather, seasickness and hopefully not the dreaded jelly fish
We will be swimming in 1 hour rotations from the time we leave english shores, until we reach France! We cannot changed the sequence or stay in for an extra hour if the other person is feeling tired or sick!
We will be piloted across the channel by Fred Mardle on the his boat called the Masterpiece, with an observer from the Channel Swimming Association, you will be able to track our progress on the website :-www.channelswimmingassociation.com

In doing this swim we have had to pass a 2hour continuous swim in water 16 degrees C or below, with a strict medical from the doctors too!, oh and lots of swimming in the mean time!
Some weeks 30,000metres which really only leaves time for eating! Knowing you cant let other swimmer down!

I have chosen this charity to make people aware of skin cancer and moles and other depilating skin disorders I myself had a very lucky escape with a melanoma mole on my shoulder, the Nurse/Sister from the ward said in 30 years I’ve not had a success case like yours maybe as quick as 6weeks it could have gone deep enough to go into my body and break off and go anywhere! “You don’t know how very lucky you are”, I just got away with a lot small procedure and a few weeks out the water not swimming!

About the charity
