Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am taking part in the UK Three Peaks Challenge which will see me climb three mountains; Ben Nevis, Snowdon and Scafell Pike in the space of 24 hours to raise both money and awareness of Motor Neurone Disease.

This is a cause that is very close to my heart as I lost my father-in-law to this terrible destructive disease back in 2003. He was a huge inspiration to myself and the whole family and we were all absolutely devastated when he was taken from us by this illness at the young age of 42.

My father-in-law Billy was a fit and healthy young man who had always lived a very active life. He was a scaffolder by trade, both played and coached football and loved to travel abroad with the family so when he was diagnosed with this illness it was very shocking for all of us. From his diagnoses to death was a period of just two years. To see how quickly this disease can destroy a person and the family around them is something that I hope no other family ever has to go through. Unfortunately this will carry on happening to other families until we can find a cure. The only way we can find a cure is to fund more research.

Although people's awareness of Motor Neurone Disease has been increased in the last few years there is still room for improvement and if by completing this challenge I can raise both awareness of and funds for research into this horrible disease then it will be worth every step that I take during this gruelling task.

All I ask of you today is to donate as much as you can afford to help raise the funds that will one day find a cure for this disease and save so many lives.

Thank You for taking the time to read this and I hope that together we can make a difference.
