We fund awareness, research and support to improve outcomes for Vasculitis patients

Story

From time to time I have the daft idea that putting my old bones through a lot of pain for a couple of hours sounds like a good idea, all in the name of charity of course.

Normally I pay my entrance fee, turn up watch people run / swim / cycle past me and feel very old.

These events I sign up for are always for a good cause but I'm not normally in the habit of pestering folk for cash, but this time it is much more personal.

This year I'm helping raise awareness and cash for the Lauren Currie twilight foundation which funds vasculitis research.

My dad was struck by this disorder (specifically Granulomatosis with polyangiitis) forcing him to retire from his work and adapt to life with a body that's been through the ringer.

Vasculitis was eating away at dad for a long time before it was properly diagnosed, by which time a lot of irreparable damage was caused.

With more awareness this could have been caught at an earlier stage, limiting the damage.

Anyway, don't want to be morbid about it all but if you can spare some loose change it will all help and I promise I won't spend it on a personal masseuse and buffet cart.
