Story
Myself and my sister (Laura) are running the London Marathon in April 2020.
This is a mix of something terrifying + a huge challenge for both of us. The most we've ever ran is a half marathon, Laura has since had a baby, I typically leave anything that needs planning to the very last minute and we really need to start training, plus stop making excuses about it being cold...
Why is this a good idea? I hear you ask.
There's one simple reason why we can achieve this. Our dad.
Sadly, in 2012 our dad (Jim Gibbons) died of cancer - he was an incredible man, would constantly push himself (and us!), always focus on being positive and was a very active runner, far better than me.
There's nothing more important to us than making him proud (which we know is by being ourselves and giving it our best shot). And because there's always friendly family rivalry, there's something nice about going one better - despite running a lot of 10k's + half marathons, he'd never ran a marathon, but we know he'd be there with us if he could.
We may have signed up on the website, but we know who really pushed us into doing this!
Scope have very kindly offered me a charity place, and I'd greatly appreciate your support and donations to help us along the way and support a great cause. I've also promised to match any donations via my digital marketing agency, Re:signal, in order to hit fundraising targets.
Our excuses stop here, and the training starts now :)
