Story
I turned 60 in September 2016, on 31st May 2017 I was definitely a couch person, as I have been for many years, but on 1st June I started running and had this crazy idea to go from the ridiculous, couch potato, to the sublime and run the London marathon;-
In less than one year, I must be totally out of my mind.
But it is all in aid of an amazing cause,
Acorns Children's Hospice Trust
Established in 1988 they provide specialist
palliative care and support to local life limited and life threatened children and their families across the heart of England.
In the last year, they have cared for 865 children
and supported 1,088 families, including those who are bereaved across Birmingham, Coventry & Warwickshire, Walsall, Sandwell, Dudley, Wolverhampton, Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Gloucestershire, Staffordshire and Shropshire.
I have done previous fundraising events for Acorns, such as the 5k Santa run and the Black Country firewalk but this is the big one and my only fundraising event for a long time (promise). It is a huge commitment and will take a lot of hard work over the next 10 months, but the pain will be worth it if I can help Acorns help these children
I have officially been accepted as part of Team Acorns for
next year's run, and no I won't be wearing any fancy dress, just getting round will be an achievement.
I have to raise a minimum of £2,000, including £500 by the end of October and another £500 by the end of December, but I have set a
personal target of £5,000.
I need your help, support and encouragement.
Please help me to help Acorns help the children.
